Discussion of Wacky Packages appearance in Detroit Rock City

I picked up Detroit Rock City when I took the other three back. Indeed there
are wacky pack shirts, stickers, and boxes in the movie. It is supposed to
take place in 1978, but there is a reissue box in the movie. Stranger yet
the box is purple with purple packs, so a 2nd series box, but there were
never any purple rerun packs, they are red, yellow, blue, and green.

I would say that it is definitely a Gadzooka sticker below the Beanball sticker
on the locker scene in Detroit Rock City.
Interesting how all of the Wacky titles shown in this film are all parodies
of Topps products.
The box might be real but it looks to me like they made fake packs by copying
the box.

There probably weren't hooded sweatshirts. That movie came out in 1999, so what's
the chance they got their hands on original garb? Instead they must have made them,
maybe even with Topps permission. They got other things wrong, like purple rerun packs,
so there's no reason to believe they researched and got the type of shirts right.
I doubt there are hooded sweatshirts from the 70's.

Yeah, I bet they just used the box image to fake up some packs. They obviously
deliberately placed them in the box a little propped up so they could be seen in this shot.
It's kind of werid, isn't it, that nobody contacted anybody we know for info. If
they got their info from us instead of Topps they would have gotten better info,
and maybe even a real full rerun box. Hell I'd have given them one for free just
to see it in a movie. They could have gotten real shirts from us too, now that
would have been cool!
